North South Power Foundation Commissions Newly Rehabilitated Zumba Model Primary/Secondary School in Niger State.

The North South Power Foundation has proudly inaugurated the newly rehabilitated Zumba Model Primary/Secondary School, which features three blocks and eight classrooms, along with essential facilities such as toilets and a solar-powered borehole, located in Zumba, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

During the commissioning ceremony, Professor George Nwangwu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the North South Power Foundation, represented by Dr. Umar Nagogo, urged the Zumba community to actively encourage parents to enroll their children in the newly upgraded educational facility.

Dr. Nagogo emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating that now that the project has been officially handed over, it is crucial for local residents to ensure the security of the school. “We need a security guard to protect this structure from vandalism,” he remarked, stressing that this multi-million-naira project is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that require protection from potential vandalism.

In addition to promoting enrollment, Dr. Nagogo called on the Niger State government to provide the school with necessary instructional materials, chairs, and tables to create a conducive learning environment for students. This plea for government support underscores the commitment to meeting the educational needs of the community and ensuring that the school plays a vital role in the development of the area’s youth.

In his speech at the event, the Village Head of Zumba, Alhaji Garba Abara, commended the North South Power Foundation for a job well done.

Alhaji Garba Abara urged the community to take advantage of the school and ensure that their children benefit from the quality education it offers.

He assured them that they would do everything possible to protect the school from miscreants and warned that anyone found tampering with fittings on the school premises would face the full consequences of the law.

He also appealed to the North South Power Foundation to expand their focus to other areas so that more communities can benefit.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the school, Mr. Pada Dada, expressed appreciation for the efforts of the North South Power Foundation in rehabilitating the school.

According to PTA Chairman Dada, the students now have a proper classroom, making learning more conducive. “Before, the classrooms were in a dilapidated condition, with roofs blown off and the walls near collapse,” he added.

He then called on the state government to provide the school with essential items such as chairs and tables to complement the efforts of the North South Power Foundation.
