Public Complaints Commission Marks 50 Years of Service with Commitment to Address Administrative Injustice.

The Public Complaints Commission (PCC) proudly celebrated its golden jubilee on Thursday, marking fifty years of its establishment and reflecting on significant milestones achieved in its quest to serve citizens better throughout Nigeria.

The celebration, themed “Addressing Administrative Injustice,” took place in Minna, Niger State, where Federal Commissioner Abdulrahman Mohammed highlighted the commission’s pivotal role in safeguarding citizens against administrative injustices and ensuring a governance system that prioritizes the people’s needs.

Speaking on behalf of the Federal Commissioner, the Director of Investigation, Niger State office, Mr. Nathan Nmadu, emphasized the ongoing evolution and expansion of the commission since the establishment of its Niger State office in 1976.

He noted that the PCC operates in various local government areas, including Suleja, Bida, New Busa, Katcha, and Gurara, enhancing its outreach across the state.

Since its inception, the Public Complaints Commission in Niger State has received a total of 41,434 cases, with an impressive resolution of 39,934.

Mr. Nmadu reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to providing free services to the public and reiterated its dedication to continue serving the citizens diligently.

In his keynote address, Mr. Nmadu outlined some of the common issues the commission addresses, including wrongful dismissals, delays in retirement benefits, challenges in obtaining death gratuity by next of kin, non-release of examination results, and wrongful termination of appointments.

Established by the federal government of Nigeria in 1975 and fondly referred to as the Ombudsman, the Public Complaints Commission seeks to foster public trust in institutions while ensuring that governance remains focused on the welfare of the citizens.

The celebration featured goodwill messages and an engaging question-and-answer session, underscoring the importance of community engagement in the commission’s mission.
