Niger State Civil Society Coalition Commemorates Nigeria’s 65th Independence, Advocates for Inclusive Governance and Support for Flood Victims

In a heartfelt press release marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the Campaign for Democracy, Human Rights Advocacy, and Civil Society Network (CD-HRACSN) in Niger State extended warm congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The coalition, which represents various civil society organizations in the North-Central Zone, expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Niger State administration, led by Governor Umar Mohammed Bago of the APC.
The group commended the governor for his commitment to transforming the state through substantial investments in infrastructure, education, health, and human capital development, which have collectively improved the region’s standing within Nigeria.
Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed Jabi, Chairman of the North Central Zone, emphasized the need for the governor to recognize and reward the contributions of civil society members who played a critical role in the recent elections.
He called for fair compensation in the form of business opportunities or political appointments for those who dedicated time and resources to mobilizing voters and serving as accredited domestic election observers during the 2023 general elections.
In a show of solidarity, the coalition also expressed condolences to the family of the late Honorable Hassan Baro, urging the community and government of Niger State to remember his legacy and contributions.
The coalition called upon the state government to expedite the construction of housing shelters for victims affected by severe flooding in the Mokwa Local Government Area, emphasizing the urgent need to alleviate their current hardships.
