FG, States, LGCs Share N2.2 Trillion from August 2025 Revenue

In August 2025, the total Federation Account Revenue reached two trillion, two hundred and twenty-five billion, one hundred and eighteen million Naira (N2,225.118 trillion).
This amount was distributed among the Federal Government, States, and Local Government Councils during the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting held in Abuja.
The N2,225.118 trillion in distributable revenue included:
– Distributable statutory revenue of N1,478.593 billion
– Distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N672.903 billion
– Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) revenue of N32.338 billion
– Exchange Difference of N41.284 billion
A communiqué issued by FAAC indicated that the total gross revenue available for August 2025 was N3,635.802 trillion. Total deductions for the cost of collection amounted to N124.839 billion. Additionally, total transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings reached N1,285.845 billion.
From the N722.619 billion available from VAT in August 2025, there was an increase compared to the N687.940 billion distributed in the previous month, resulting in an increase of N34.679 billion.
According to the communiqué, the distribution of the N1,478.593 trillion total distributable revenue was as follows:
– Federal Government received N684.462 billion
– State Governments received N347.168 billion
– Local Government Councils received N267.652 billion
– An amount of N179.311 billion (13% of mineral revenue) was allocated to the benefiting States as derivation revenue.
From the N672.903 billion in distributable VAT revenue:
– The Federal Government received N100.935 billion
– State Governments received N336.452 billion
– Local Government Councils received N235.516 billion
The Federal Government received N4.851 billion from the N32.338 billion in Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), while State Governments received N16.169 billion and Local Government Councils received N11.318 billion.
Regarding the N41.284 billion in Exchange Difference:
– The Federal Government received N19.799 billion
– State Governments received N10.042 billion
– Local Government Councils received N7.742 billion
– An additional N3.701 billion (13% of mineral revenue) was shared with the benefiting States as derivation revenue.
In August 2025, the Gross Statutory Revenue of N2,838.214 trillion was reported, which is lower than the N3,070.127 trillion received in the previous month by N231.913 billion.
While Oil and Gas Royalty, Value Added Tax (VAT), and CET Levies experienced significant increases, there were declines in Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Import Duty, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), Companies Income Tax (CIT), and Excise Duty.
