Munya Local Government Area, Niger State – Dr. Mustafa Jibrin Alheri, the former Commissioner for Health and Investment in Niger State, has expressed optimism about the recent by-election held in Munya, highlighting an unprecedented voter turnout and a smooth electoral process.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Jibrin Alheri, who is serving as an observer for the All Progressives Congress (APC), noted that the turnout was remarkably high for a by-election, which typically sees less engagement than general elections. “It means that people are really conscientized about elections these days. They are concerned about who their leaders will be,” he stated.
Dr. Alheri observed several polling stations where voters lined up in an orderly fashion to cast their votes. He remarked on the peaceful atmosphere, noting the collaboration and camaraderie exhibited by party members, including those from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). “There was no issue of violence. I was impressed with how everyone conducted themselves,” he said.
Reflecting on the achievements of the APC-led government under former Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, Dr. Alheri emphasized the importance of maintaining a harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government. “We will be glad if the APC candidate wins, so he can continue supporting policies and projects initiated by our farmer governor,” he added.
Dr. Jibrin Alheri highlighted the farmer governor Umaru Bago’s commitment to connecting with the people and addressing their needs, stating, “The essence of democracy is to ensure that the people benefit from it.” He pointed out recent infrastructural developments, including a newly constructed five-kilometer road and a forthcoming 50 beds hospital project by Senator Sani 313 in the local government area.
As the election unfolds, Dr. Jibrin Alheri urged citizens to focus on the positive strides made by the government and to actively participate in the democratic process. With a successful by-election, he believes the APC is well-positioned to continue its governance and ensure the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people..
