The Commander, Corps of Artillery, Major General Zakari Abubakar, has urged officers and soldiers of the Military Cantonment in Kontagora to remain resolute and committed to their duties at all times.
He made the call today, 8 August 2025, at the conclusion of a 15-kilometre route march, marking the end of the final phase of the 2025 Physical Efficiency Test in Kontagora, Niger State.
Commending the troops for their ruggedness and endurance, General Abubakar said their performance reflected the Nigerian Army’s readiness to confront and defeat enemies of the state whenever and wherever duty calls.
He encouraged them to keep the nation’s flag flying high, regardless of the circumstances.
The Commander emphasised that the Physical Efficiency Test is designed to maintain troops’ mental, physical, and emotional alertness, as well as to instil greater discipline. He further noted that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Nigerian Army Medal, places the welfare of personnel as a top priority, covering healthcare, education, and accommodation across barracks nationwide.
Highlighting the importance of continuous training and retraining for operational success, General Abubakar urged the troops to remain steadfast and highly motivated, drawing strength from the COAS’s welfare initiatives and leadership philosophy.
He commended personnel of the Headquarters Nigerian Corps of Artillery (NACA) and the Headquarters Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC) for their dedication, commitment, and resilience, charging them to give their best in the fight against adversaries.
“Peace is a universal language,” he stated, “and we must collectively work to achieve it.”
