57 Lawyers Shortlisted for Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Rank.
The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has officially shortlisted 57 distinguished lawyers for elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). This announcement was made by Kabir Akanbi, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, following the LPPC’s 169th plenary session held on Tuesday.
The rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria is a prestigious designation awarded to legal practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional skill and distinction, either as advocates in court or through significant contributions to legal scholarship as academics. The LPPC emphasizes that achieving this status is a recognition of professional excellence within Nigeria’s legal community.
As part of the conferment process, all shortlisted candidates are required to participate in a pre-swearing-in induction programme, which is a mandatory prerequisite for their formal elevation to SAN. This programme is designed to prepare candidates for the responsibilities that come with the rank.
In alignment with regulations outlined by the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), the LPPC has reiterated that all conferees must refrain from publishing any advertisements, congratulatory messages, or goodwill notices relating to their nominations or forthcoming conferment. Violations of these statutory and ethical guidelines could result in sanctions.
