VC FUT Minna laments inadequate hostels accommodation, urges investors to invest.

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Minna Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, has lamented at inadequate hostels accommodation for students ,urging well meaning investors to invest in the area to address the challenge facing the institution..
The VC stated this while commissioning of Alewa canteen build in partnership with Shelter Suites and Hotel at the main campus at Gidan-Kwano along Minna-Bida road
He explained that against this background, the university recently decided to set up PPP unit through which it can collaborate with private sector investors targeted at increasing the availability of hostel spaces for students to enhance their overall experience and academic success.
He also noted that one of the institution’s challenges in accessing quality food for staff and students has been tackled with the commissioning of Alewa canteen
to ensure conducive learning environment.
According to him, the universitys location had made it challenging for the community to access good food. However, Alewa Canteen has brought relief for staff and students as they can now access quality food without having to travel long distances to the town”.
Kuta noted that the canteen embodies the university’s vision and mission of utilizing local resources, making local products competitive with imported goods

We extend our sincere appreciation for their unwavering support, which has been vital to our growth and in our commitment to addressing the needs of our community and creating a conducive environment for learning”.
In her remarks, the CEO of Shelter Suites and Hotel, Hajiya Maryam Ibrahim Aliyu said, ” We are honoured and grateful for this wonderful opportunity. Having worked on the canteen for about 18 months, it is exciting to see it finally open”
The facility was officially declared open by Hajiya Zainab Mohammed, General Manager, Niger State Tourism Corporation is expected to commence operations in August.
The Alewa Canteen features a range of amenities, including a Shawarma joint, Suya joint, barbing salon, main dining area, restrooms, and offices for staff.
