National President of Nigerian Red Cross Society Urges Enhanced Training for Effective Service Delivery

The National President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Mr. Oluyemisi Adetayo Adeaga, emphasized the importance of continuous training for staff and members to ensure efficient service delivery during the opening of the Nigeria Malnutrition Emergency Appeal at the Porto Golf Hotel in Kano.

Highlighting the positive outcomes of previous training programs, Mr. Adeaga stated, “Human resource development is essential for achieving our desired goals.” He underscored that regular capacity development is crucial for the growth of the Nigerian Red Cross and other related movements.

Addressing the pressing issue of malnutrition in Nigeria, Mr. Adeaga called for increased support to demonstrate empathy towards the population. He pointed out that many Nigerians live below the poverty line, with an average income of just seventy thousand naira, thus highlighting the urgent need for assistance aimed at supporting vulnerable children and newborns.

Mr. Adeaga encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the appeal and share it with those who were unable to attend.

In her remarks, IFRC representative in Nigeria, Ms. Tifin Loh, commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for their dedication to humanitarian efforts and assured ongoing support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The event was also attended by prominent figures, including the Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State Branch, Barrister Salisu Idris Sallama, who described the initiative as noble given Nigeria’s poverty levels. Kano State Branch Secretary, Alhaji Musa D. Abdullahi, extended warm wishes to participants for successful deliberations.

The appeal welcomed participation from several states, including Niger, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Yobe.
