IGP Hosts Accountant General of the Federation, Advocates for Strategic Funding for National Security.

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, welcomed the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Shamsudeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, and his team at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
In a press statement issued by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, it was stated that the purpose of the courtesy visit was to strengthen collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Office of the Accountant General.They specifically focused on strategic funding and support for national policing initiatives.
During his address, the Accountant General acknowledged the critical role of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining internal security. He emphasized the need for adequate financial support to enable the Force to carry out its responsibilities effectively.
The Accountant General reiterated his office’s responsibility for managing public finances and expressed his commitment to exploring avenues for increased and sustained funding for the Nigeria Police Force.
He stated that with sufficient resources, ongoing collaboration, and effective synergy, the goal of building a more efficient police force could be achieved.
In response, the Inspector-General of Police expressed gratitude for the visit and recognized the crucial role played by the Accountant General’s office in ensuring the financial stability of government institutions.
He commended the Accountant General’s dedication to accountability and fiscal responsibility, noting that the meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss the financial challenges faced by the Force.
The IGP further emphasized that without adequate and sustainable funding, the Force would struggle to meet the increasing demands of modern policing.
He expressed confidence that the Accountant General would advocate for necessary reforms to enhance funding for police operations nationwide.
The IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.
He noted that improved collaboration with key institutions, such as the Office of the Accountant General, is essential for achieving a well-resourced and highly motivated police force that meets the expectations of the Nigerian people.
