GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO CALLS FOR A CHANGE IN THE NEW WORLD ORDER TO EMPOWER EMERGING ECONOMIES

Niger State Governor and farmer, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has advocated for a change in the new world order to empower emerging economies like Nigeria for growth.
He expressed this during an exclusive interview with Sputnik Africa, a Russian state-owned news agency.
In the interview, Governor Bago emphasized the need for a new global balance, acknowledging that the current world order must change as the balance of trade has shifted globally.
He supports the rise of a multipolar world where African countries can assert their sovereignty and actively participate in shaping international affairs.
He believes that a new world order will provide opportunities for all countries to engage in discussions and negotiations at a global level.
Governor Bago highlighted that this new paradigm would foster fairness and adherence to genuine global best practices while noting the strategic advantages Nigeria gains by joining the expanded BRICS platform.
He mentioned that Nigeria’s membership in BRICS would open up wider trade opportunities with member countries. Historically, Nigeria had limited direct trade with nations such as Brazil and Russia, but now, through BRICS, those barriers can be overcome as Nigeria has been admitted as a partner country within this bloc of developing economies.
Additionally, Farmer Umaru Bago called for deeper cooperation between Nigeria and Russia across key sectors including agriculture, mining, education, and health.
He emphasized that partnerships with Russian companies will promote job creation, skills development, and large-scale investments.
The Governor indicated that Niger State is committed to initiating a significant agricultural revival in line with Nigeria’s food security goals.
He stressed that the state will leverage its rich natural resources to unlock its untapped economic potential through joint ventures with Russia.
Recently, Governor Umaru Bago led a Niger State government delegation on a visit to the Empress Catherine II St. Petersburg Mining University, the first higher technical educational institution in Russia.
During the visit, he met with the Rector of the institution, Professor Vladimir Litvinenko, and toured the university’s mining museum and specialized auditoriums.
