Magistrate Court 1 Adjourns Hearing on Electricity Supply Agreement for Kutiriko Community.

By Yahaya Zakka Minna.

A magistrate court 1 sitting in Minna, Niger State, has adjourned a case concerning the provision of electricity to the Kutiriko community, scheduling the next session for the 25th of this month.

This decision was made to allow the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) Minna office to finalize and implement an agreement to supply armored cable to the community’s transformer, ensuring a consistent electricity supply.

Presiding magistrate, Hajiya Umulkatume Mohammed, granted the adjournment following submissions from Barrister Hadiza Umar, who represents the Kutiriko community.

Barrister Hadiza highlighted that the AEDC’s progress in fulfilling the previously established agreement requires additional time for completion.

In response, the counsel for the AEDC, Barrister Idris Ubandoma, assured the court of the company’s commitment to reaching an out-of-court settlement with the community.

Engineer Ibrabim Adamu Haruna, spokesperson for the Kutiriko community, detailed the terms of the agreement discussed during a previous meeting with AEDC representatives.

These terms include the provision of armored cable to be installed with the new transformer and the cancellation of disputed bills issued to consumers during a period of power outage.

Engineer Haruna emphasized that failure to honor this agreement before the next court session may compel the community to proceed with a full hearing against the AEDC.
