Niger State Governor Advocates Enhanced Community Engagement from AEDC for Improved Power Supply.

From Yahaya Zakka Minna.

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has emphasized the importance of increased advocacy and community engagement by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to better inform consumers about power supply issues and encourage timely payment of electricity bills.

During a meeting with AEDC officials at the Government House in Minna, Governor Bago highlighted that effective communication and outreach efforts would empower customers with the necessary knowledge to understand the implications of their electricity usage and payment.

He also called for the installation of meters that accurately track the amount of power supplied to transformers and households, noting that this initiative would enable AEDC to maintain accurate records of power consumption.

The Governor acknowledged the challenges in providing individual meters to every household but suggested that monitoring the power supplied could significantly aid in addressing discrepancies in billing.

In his remarks, Governor Bago reiterated the State Government’s readiness to subsidize electricity bills for customers on lower service base tariffs.

However, he urged AEDC to enhance the consistency of power supply to assist low-income earners in sustaining their businesses that rely on electricity.

The Governor further urged the AEDC to address the existing disparities between distribution infrastructure and consumer needs.

He expressed the State Government’s commitment to closely monitor developments and to continue discussions with AEDC aimed at enhancing power supply in the region.
