Ramadan Announcement: Sultan Directs Moon Sighting for New Month

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has issued a directive for all Muslims in the country to observe the sighting of the new moon of Ramadan 1446 AH on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Worshippers are encouraged to report any sightings to their nearest District or Village head for appropriate communication.
In a statement released on Thursday by Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, Chairman of the Sultanate Council’s Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, it was noted: “This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Friday, February 28, 2025, which corresponds to the 29th day of Sha’aban 1446 AH, shall be designated for the observation of the new moon of Ramadan 1446 AH.”
The statement also included a prayer for Allah’s guidance, urging Muslims to peacefully and successfully fulfill their religious obligations during this important period.
