Kagara Emirates Revives Sporting Activities After a Decade

The revival of sporting activities in the Kagara Emirates marks a significant milestone after a decade-long hiatus due to insecurity. Comrade Ambassador Idrees Abdulkareem Lafene, the Digital NLC Chairman of Niger State and NULGE President, was present at the final competition of the Hasken Wushishi Peace and Unity Cup, aptly titled “A New Kagara Emirates Revived.”
During the opening ceremony, Comrade Ahmed Fresh, Chairman of the Niger State Football Association, highlighted the challenges faced by Kagara Emirates over the past ten years. He noted that insecurity had hindered the hosting of matches.
However, with the concerted efforts of Comrade Ambassador Idrees Abdulkareem Lafene, the region is witnessing a resurgence in football, which deserves commendation.
He specifically acknowledged the contributions of Farmer Umaru Muhammad Bago and Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba in ensuring the continued progress of Niger State.
The Executive Council Chairman of Rafi Local Government, who represented the Deputy Governor of Niger State, emphasized the importance of empowering youth through sports as a fast track to societal development and peaceful coexistence.
He urged the youth to seize this opportunity, demonstrating honesty and dedication to bring pride to their local government.
The final match between Tegina United and Sabon Mariga concluded with a thrilling penalty shootout, resulting in Tegina United winning 4 to 3.
In his address at the event, Comrade Ambassador Idrees Abdulkareem Lafene expressed gratitude to the crowd for their support and encouraged the youth to pursue football as a viable source of livelihood and a means of fostering unity.
Medals were awarded to the winners and runners-up, celebrating their achievements.
In attendance were notable figures such as Comrade Adamu Akayago, Comrade Dr. MK Adamu, Alhaji Mamman Soja, Comrade Bala Orondo, Comrade Hashimu NLC Rafi, Dan Fulani NULGE Rafi, and other esteemed members of the Union.
This event marks a hopeful chapter for the Kagara community, with renewed emphasis on sports as a unifying force and a channel for youth empowerment.
