Niger State Government Secures $10 Million World Bank Intervention to Address Gully Erosion in Mokwa

By Abdulkadir Yahaya, Minna

The Niger State Government has announced the acquisition of a $10 million fund from the World Bank to combat gully erosion in several areas of Mokwa Local Government Area.

Governor Umaru Bago, the Farmer Governor, announced this during a statewide project monitoring tour in Mokwa. He visited affected locations, including Kpege, Efu Abebe, and Eti Sheshi, where he noted that gully erosion had significantly threatened the communities.

The Governor stated that capable contractors with proven track records have been selected to undertake the project, which will commence shortly. He urged impacted area residents to cooperate with the contractors to benefit the community.

Governor Bago reassured the people that his administration was committed to alleviating their hardships.

Residents expressed gratitude to the Farmer Governor for this intervention, stating that the project will bring relief after years of struggles and uncertainty.
