Sani Bello Foundation and Graceland Health Foundation Offer Free Medical Surgeries

The Sani Bello Foundation, in collaboration with the Graceland Health Development Foundation in Kaduna, has organized its annual free medical and surgical outreach at the Kontagora General Hospital in Niger State, North Central Nigeria.

This initiative benefits underserved populations across the nation, providing critical healthcare services to those in need. Colonel Sani Bello (retd.), Chairman of the Sani Bello Foundation and former Military Governor of Kano State, described this outreach as a meaningful way to celebrate his 82nd birthday.

He emphasized his preference for supporting healthcare initiatives rather than engaging in extravagant celebrations.

“The free annual surgical outreach serves as a birthday gift to the community, offering solace and relief to those in need,” he stated.

Colonel Bello also expressed his joy at the opportunity to bring smiles to individuals unable to afford medical treatment and called on wealthy members of society to support vulnerable populations.

Usman Sani Bello, Vice Chairman of the Sani Bello Foundation, reiterated the foundation’s commitment to making a positive impact on lives.

He praised the smooth execution of the program and stressed the importance of collective efforts to tackle healthcare challenges.

“We have already performed surgeries on over 500 patients, and we expect this number to increase by the end of the five-day outreach,” Usman said.

Dr. Tort Joseph, Chairman of the Graceland Health Development Foundation, praised the collaboration between the two foundations and highlighted its transformative effects.

“Our partnership with the Sani Bello Foundation is driven by a shared commitment to assist vulnerable individuals in society,” Dr. Joseph remarked.

He added, “Over the past eleven years, this initiative has changed countless lives through surgeries, including cataract removals and other eye surgeries, as well as the provision of eyeglasses.”

Similarly, Dr. Zakari Ikani, Director-General of the Sani Bello Foundation, provided updates on the program’s progress. “So far, we have treated over 500 patients and expect to exceed our target given the large turnout.

We have distributed 1,255 medications, provided 1,000 eyeglasses, and performed 122 cataract surgeries, with more procedures underway,” Dr. Ikani stated.

Beneficiaries of the program expressed deep gratitude for this life-changing initiative.

They commended the foundation’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and prayed for continued blessings for its founder.

The five-day free healthcare service addressed various medical conditions, including fibroids, appendicitis, goiter, lumps, hernia, hydrocele, and eye-related diseases.

A team of medical specialists conducted the surgeries, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery in Niger State and beyond.
