Former Gov. of Niger, Dr Mu’azu, Attends the 5th Zik Annual Award lecture in Abuja.
His Excellency Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, OON, CON (Talban Minna and former Governor of Niger State, attended the 5th Zik Annual Award Lecture as a distinguished guest.
The event was held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja to commemorate the 120th posthumous birthday of Nigeria’s first President, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
With the theme “Nigeria’s Governance Model: Prospects and Perspectives,” the event attracted prominent personalities, including former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, GCFR; the Governor of Borno State, represented by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno; the National Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero; as well as traditional rulers, policymakers, and other notable dignitaries.
The lecture provided a platform for in-depth discussions on Nigeria’s governance model, addressing challenges, prospects, and pathways to sustainable development.
The event also honored the legacy of Dr. Azikiwe, affectionately known as the “Great Zik of Africa,” for his invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s independence and unity.
In an interview with journalists, H.E. Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from visionary leaders like Dr. Azikiwe and Sir Ahmadu Bello.
He advocated for innovative, inclusive, and accountable governance to tackle Nigeria’s pressing challenges and to propel the nation towards progress.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards to individuals and institutions recognized for their outstanding contributions to nation-building and public service.
