Pay LG retirees their gratuities, Union begs Gov. Bago.
Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Niger State, has appealed to Gov. Mohammed Umar-Bago to pay local government retirees in the state their gratuities.
This, the Union said, is to improve on the standard of living of the retirees and that of their family members.
This is contained in a Communique issued at the end of the state Executive Council meeting of the Union, jointly signed by the State Chairman,NUP,Comrade Ishaku Ndagi and the State Secretary,,Comrade Abdullahi Baba Sani made available to newsmen in Minna.
The communique drafting committee comprised Mal. Mohammed Erena (Chairman), Mrs. Deborah Salawu, Mal. Mohammed Sule (Co-Secretary), and Mal. Yahaya Musbahu (Secretary.
The union appreciated Farmer Governor Umaru-Bago for making the monthly pension a first line charge.
“The union appreciate the government for resuming actively in the payments of gratuity to retirees in the state.
“We are appealing to the State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umar Bago to come to the aid of the local government retirees in the payment of their gratuities,” the statement said.
The union also commended the tireless efforts of the digital director of pension board, Alhaji Nasiru Namaska and his entire staff for sustaining the prompt payment of gratuity.
The statement added ” All local government Nigeria Union Pensioners should establish gender committee immediately in their various local government area
“All pensioners should make themselves relevant in their local government area by working harmoniously with their council Chairmen and other stake holders in the local government.
“Nigeria Union of Pensioners branch chairmen and secretaries should establish cordial relationship with their council Chairmen,” the statement said.
The union appreciated all pensioners in the state for contributing into the commissioning of the Nigeria Union Pension Secretariat.
The statement further said that the union agreed to key in with the state government for the Nicare program.
“All pensioners in the state passed vote of confidence on the Nigeria Union of Pensioners state executives,” the statement further said.
The union appreciated the laudable supports, contributions, concerns and efforts of Nigeria Labour Congress to the Nigeria Union of Pensioners state officials and pensioners in Niger State.
