IBBU Convocation: 37 students graduates with first class honour

IBBU Convocation: 37 students graduates with first class honour

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai has graduated 37 students with a first class honour in 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abu-Kasim Adamu made this disclosure during a Press briefing held at the IBB University guest house, today, as part of activities of the 4th combined convocation ceremony of the institution scheduled for Saturday, this week.

Giving a breakdown of the degree category obtained by the graduands across the various programmes of the university, he said 37 students graduated with a first class honour, 954 with second class upper, 3,283 with second class lower, 1,538 with third class and 17 students had ordinary pass.

The Vice Chancellor added that under the post graduate programme of the institution, two had PhD, 50 with post graduate diploma, while 283 graduated with masters degree.

He also disclosed that Mohammed A’isha Egbako of Animal production department graduated as the overall best student of the 2019/2020 academic session with CGPA of 4.84, while A’isha Ahmed Ketso of Sociology department was the overall best student for the 2020/2021 academic session with CGPA of 4.81.

Similarly, the Vice Chancellor also said about 17 were withdrawn on academic ground as they could not measure up within the period of the two academic session.

He added that there will be a convocation lecture to be delivered by Prof. Sheikh Abdullah on Friday, while the convocation ceremony proper will take place on Saturday, saying for prominent Nigerians will be decorated with honorary degree, which includes Gov Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau state, Col. Sani Bello (rtd), Ibrahim Aliyu and Alh. Abdulsalam Isyaku Rabi’u.

On the general growth and development of the University, Prof. Abu-Kasim said the institution was growing as it was among the most sorted for university in the country, adding that all the programmes run by the University were fully accredited.

He also disclosed that already the principal officers of the University College of Medicine had been appointed and that programmes were expected to commence for the 2022/2023 academic session in the college, saying law and other professional programmes will follow suit soon.
