Hon. Abdulhamid El-Wazir Joins ADC, Criticizes APC Over Governance Failures.

In a significant political shift, Hon. Abdulhamid El-Wazir,(Talban Kontagora), announced his departure from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Coalition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on July 17, 2025.
In his public address, El-Wazir outlined several pressing challenges facing the nation that prompted his decision. He criticized the APC-led government for what he described as “flagrant neglect” of critical stakeholders, stating that experienced individuals have been sidelined from contributing to the state’s development. This exclusion has left many politicians without the necessary information to engage their constituents effectively.
El-Wazir also highlighted the government’s inadequate response to escalating security issues, noting that casualties continue to rise alarmingly. “The lack of a clear direction from the federal
government on security is deeply concerning,” he remarked, urging for immediate and effective action.
Addressing economic concerns, El-Wazir condemned the impact of recent policy decisions that have heightened food insecurity and poverty among the populace.
He specifically criticized the removal of fuel subsidies, which, he argued, lacked a comprehensive plan and has failed to yield benefits for the citizens who supported the government.
Additionally, he raised alarms over the government’s increasing reliance on loans, warning that this trend poses a significant threat to the livelihoods of ordinary citizens and exacerbates the wealth gap between the rich and the poor. “The growing burden on the common people is unacceptable,” he stated, emphasizing the struggles faced by families, particularly women and children, in securing basic necessities.
In conclusion, El-Wazir called for unity among Nigerians to address these pressing issues, urging his fellow citizens to come together as a formidable force in defense of the nation’s future.
