Niger State NUP Praises Governor Bago and Pension Board for Retirees’ Welfare Efforts

In a communiqué signed by State Chairman Comrade Ishaku and State Secretary Comrade Abdullahi Baba Sani and shared with the media, the Niger State Council NUP commended Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his dedication to the welfare of retirees.
The council extended its best wishes for the governor’s continued success in leading the state.
It also acknowledged the efforts of Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska, Director-General of the Pension Board, in addressing retirees’ concerns.
A vote of confidence was expressed in the leadership and management of the Niger State Pension Board.
The council noted that gratuity payments have been halted at Batch 11 for state retirees, and local government retirees have not received payments since Batch two. It urged the Niger State Government to resume these payments promptly to alleviate retirees’ hardships related to housing and healthcare.
Additionally, the State Executive Committee (SEC) called on the government to direct the Head of Service to implement the new pension rate review as mandated by the National Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission on April 30, 2024, per circular SWC/S/104/S542/A/449.
The council also expressed gratitude to all pensioners in Niger State for their patience, cooperation, and understanding, affirming its ongoing advocacy for their entitlements through the Nigeria Union of Pensioners.
Lastly, the SEC appreciated the support from leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Niger State Council and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
