CAN Niger State Condemns Kidnapping of Students and Teachers at St. Mary’s School in Papiri’
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State, has strongly condemned the recent kidnapping incident at St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri.
The attack occurred between 1am and 3am on Friday, 21st November 2025, when suspected terrorists invaded the schools, abducting pupils, students, teachers, and a security officer who was shot and critically injured.
CAN expressed deep concern over the safety of the kidnapped individuals and emphasized its ongoing collaboration with security agencies, community leaders, and government authorities to ensure their safe return.
The Chairperson of the Kontagora Diocese, also Bishop of Kontagora, urged the public to maintain calm, support security efforts, and pray for the quick release of all abductees.
Reaffirming its commitment to child protection, CAN assured the community that it would continue to provide updates as verified information becomes available. The organization called for divine intervention and protection for all citizens from ongoing threats.
