NAPS Honors Comrade Engr. AbubakarTakuma with Icon of Societal Transformation Award

In a prestigious ceremony, the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) presented Comrade Engr Abubakar M. Takuma, Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Niger State wing, with the Icon of Societal Transformation Award.
The event which took place in NLC sSecreteriat Minna was led by StudentsSenate Leader Comrade Napoleon Oladipo, who commended Takuma for his unwavering selfless service to humanity, Nigerian students, and the nation.
Highlighting Takuma’s recent support for the NSUBEB protest, Oladipo emphasized the union’s recognition of his exemplary track record in advocating for educational issues.
In his acceptance speech, Takuma underscored the vital role of polytechnic education in national development.
He reiterated that polytechnics serve as the backbone of industrial growth in many developed countries by equipping students with the practical skills essential for economic progress.
He called for heightened recognition and support for the Polytechnic sector in Nigeria, stressing that individuals within this field are equally critical to national advancement as those in any other sector.
Additionally, Takuma advised fellow union activists to focus on advocating for improved educational policies and resources, rather than engaging in unproductive protests.
He expressed his gratitude for being honored with the award and for the continued support of the student community.
