NLC Niger Chapter Support for Reforms Takes Center Stage at Constitution Review Hearing in Minna.
A significant gathering took place at the Siyam Event Centre in Minna, where NLC Chairman,Comrade Ambassador Idris Abdulkareem Lafene, along with TUC Chairman, Comrade Arc Ibrahim Gana and members of the State Administrative and Executive Councils, addressed important issues impacting the working class during the Public Hearing on Constitution Review.
In his goodwill speech, Lafene urged the Constitution Review Committee to prioritize the needs of the working class in the upcoming amendments.
He highlighted the economic hardships currently faced by the populace, including rising costs of petrol and electricity.
He pointed out that existing laws mainly serve upper-class interests and called for legal reforms to alleviate the struggles of everyday workers.
Supporting Lafene’s appeal,TUC Chairman Comrade Arc Ibrahim Gana emphasized the necessity for the committee to act justly and fairly, ensuring that the voices of those who contribute to the labour force are included in the revision process.
The event attracted a large turnout from labour in Niger State, with many participants proudly wearing their union attire, demonstrating solidarity and commitment to advocating for workers’ rights.
This hearing represents a pivotal moment in the ongoing discussion about constitutional reforms, as leaders continue to stress the importance of inclusive legislation that reflects the realities faced by everyday citizens.
