Prestige FM Radio Minna Donates Relief Material to Mokwa Flood Victims

From Our Correspondent

The Management of Prestige FM Radio Minna has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa, as part of its social responsibility to the community.

The station’s Executive Director, Malam Yusuf Ibrahim Ladan, announced the donation during his condolence visit and the presentation of sixteen sacks of items at the Mokwa Secretariat in the Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State. He urged the people to remain resilient in the face of this tragedy.

Yusuf Ladan expressed his sorrow over the loss of life and the extensive destruction caused by the flooding, describing the situation as alarming and devastating.

He emphasized the need for adherence to safety measures and called for similar organizations, individuals, corporate bodies, and Non-Governmental Organizations to support the victims by following Prestige FM’s example, noting that the government alone cannot cover all the costs.

He stressed that governments at all levels must ensure the necessary actions are taken to protect the lives and property of citizens by implementing proactive measures to prevent future occurrences. He also advised residents to avoid building in flood-prone areas to reduce the risk of similar tragedies in the future.

Receiving the donated items, the Acting Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Dr. Hussaini Ibrahim, who was represented by the agency’s Field Officer, Mohammed Jiya, praised Prestige FM Radio Minna for its generous gesture and thanked the station for its support. He urged other organizations to follow suit.

Additionally, the Chairman of the Mokwa Local Government, Abdullahi Muregi, who was represented by Councillor Mohammed Sani, expressed gratitude for the compassion shown by the station in giving back to the community, especially to those in desperate need.

The donated items included clothing for both children and adults, such as trousers, shirts, shoes, hijabs, over 150 wrappers, and other essentials, all aimed at alleviating the suffering of the affected victims.
