NUJ Niger Council:Remembering a Pioneer in Journalism,Pa Jola Ogunlusi.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger State Council has extended heartfelt condolences to the National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, and the family of the late Pa Jola Ogunlusi, the first appointed National Secretary of the Union.
In a statement, Council Secretary Comrade Usman Chiji described Pa Ogunlusi’s passing as a monumental loss not just for his family, but for all journalists in Nigeria.
He reflected on the significant role Pa Ogunlusi played in establishing a functional secretariat, which stands as a symbol of unity for the journalism profession.
The Council praised his dedication to elevating the NUJ as a respected professional body and acknowledged the countless young journalists he mentored, many of whom now lead reputable media organizations.
Comrade Usman Chiji emphasized the importance of upholding Pa Ogunlusi’s values of humility, integrity, and commitment to service, urging the current generation to foster a united NUJ beyond tribal or religious lines.
