Cleric Calls for a Renewed Commitment to God Amidst National Hardships.

By Samson Alfa, Minna

Nigerian leaders have been urged to serve God wholeheartedly in order to alleviate the country’s ongoing struggles and moral decay.

During a sermon to commemorate the 2025 Easter Sunday celebration at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Gbaiko, Bosso Local Government Area of Minna, Venerable Daniel Tsado, the Chairman of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) in Niger State, addressed this pressing issue.

Focusing his message on the Gospel of John, Chapter 20, Venerable Tsado criticized the lackadaisical attitude many exhibit in their spiritual lives, highlighting that such indifference will not lead us out of our current predicaments. He expressed concern that individuals often prioritize their daily routines over their spiritual well-being, warning that this approach will not benefit society until everyone is fully committed to serving God.

“We should emulate Mary Magdalene, who sought Jesus after His resurrection and declared, ‘Here am I, searching for You among the dead. Go and tell the world that I have risen,’” he said.

“This is the attitude Christians should adopt—actively seeking the living God for the salvation of our nation, rather than behaving like Doubting Thomas, as we are the salt of the earth.”

He emphasized that the resurrection of Jesus Christ offers hope for eternal life and that our service to God is measured by our dedication to worship.

Venerable Daniel expressed dismay that many believe serving God requires a fruitless quest for an immortal deity, insisting that God exists everywhere, even at home, and that prayers can be answered with the Bible in hand.

He urged Nigerians to pray for the country and its leaders, advocating for divine intervention to restore the nation’s lost glory.

During the sermon, Venerable Daniel led the congregation in a chorus titled “Jesus is Alive Forever,” signifying the faith and hope of salvation for the entire world.
