FG Urges Nigerians to Endure Economic Hardship.

From Our Correspondent.

The Federal Government has called on Nigerians to endure the current economic hardship, emphasizing that the sacrifices being made are essential for the country’s long-term stability and prosperity.

During the fourth edition of the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing Series in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, justified the difficult economic conditions by stating that meaningful reforms often come at a cost.

“Historically, meaningful reforms are never easy; they require sacrifice, resilience, and a commitment to long-term progress. The initial pains that often accompany these changes are the necessary price for a more stable and prosperous future,” he remarked.

Idris, who spoke alongside the Ministers of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Education, and State for Education, claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working diligently to alleviate the burden on citizens. He urged Nigerians to be patient, asserting that the government’s economic policies would soon yield positive results.

“We have crossed the Rubicon, and the pains are gradually easing as the positive effects of these reforms begin to manifest. Already, we are witnessing a significant reduction in food prices, stability in exchange rates, and a gradual decline in the cost of petroleum products,” he stated.

His remarks come at a time when millions of Nigerians are facing rising living costs, inflation, and widespread economic hardship. Many citizens continue to voice their concerns over the soaring prices of food, transportation, and basic necessities, despite the government’s repeated assurances of improvement.

However, the minister praised Nigerians for their patience and resilience, encouraging them to endure even more sacrifices. “I want to sincerely thank Nigerians for their patience, perseverance, and unwavering belief in the President’s vision. These reforms are not merely well-intentioned; they are essential for the growth and development of our nation,” he concluded.
