Niger Assembly Commends Governor Bago’s Infrastructural Development, Assures Him of Support

The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barrister AbdulMalik Sarkindaji has praised the infrastructural transformation initiated by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago over the past year, affirming that his effective management of state resources is commendable.
During the presentation of the governor’s 2025 appropriation bill before the House on Thursday evening, the Speaker described the careful management of state resources as a validation of the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to a shared vision for the state.
He emphasized that “with prudent resource allocation and relentless dedication to public service, true progress is within reach.”
Sarkindaji took the opportunity to highlight some of the governor’s significant achievements in his first year in office, noting that the ongoing 556 road projects—both state and federal—will significantly improve connectivity across the state.
He stated, “This investment has been pivotal, creating a seamless network that enhances trade, commerce, social interaction, and fosters economic growth, ultimately improving the daily lives of our people.”
He also commended the governor for prioritizing youth empowerment by providing educational and training opportunities locally and internationally.
He highlighted the recent announcement of scholarships for 1,000 students to study science-related courses in India as a forward-thinking initiative to equip youth with the skills needed in today’s technological age.
According to him, these achievements result from a harmonious working relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms, which has led to efficient decision-making and a shared commitment to the welfare of the people.
“The cooperative and respectful engagement between the executive and legislative arms has undoubtedly been a cornerstone of our progress,” he remarked.
Sarkindaji expressed confidence that the upcoming fiscal year will bring even more transformative developments, reaffirming the 10th Assembly’s commitment to supporting the Bago-led administration.
During the session, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago presented a budget of N1.558 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly for consideration.
This budget, titled “Budget of Hope for Sustainability and Food Security,” allocates over N196 billion naira, representing 13 percent, to recurrent expenditure, while N1.3 trillion, accounting for 87 percent, is designated for capital expenditure.
