Niger Government Expresses Satisfaction with the Construction of Kontagora Township Roads

By Mohammed Baba Busu

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Suleiman Umar, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work carried out thus far on the ongoing construction of roads in Kontagora Township.

During an inspection of the projects in Kontagora Township on Tuesday, the commissioner stated that once completed, these projects would significantly enhance the socio-economic activities and overall standard of living for the residents of the area and the state.

Umar praised Governor Umaru Bago for his commitment to infrastructural development in the state.

He noted, “As of today, the contractor has completed approximately 67% of the drainage work and slabs.

The remaining tasks include pavement and asphalt finishing, with the contractor currently focused on the road base.”

The project, titled “Additional Work and Completion of Two Selected Roads in Kontagora Township Road Phase (1),” involves the construction of 2.58 kilometers of roads. It is being executed by Khalifate Engineering & Construction Company Nigeria Limited, with a contract sum of ₦912,315,422.52 and an estimated project duration of four months, despite being awarded in 2021 by the previous administration.

The commissioner detailed that the road project consists of two sections: the Mallam Aliyu Adamawa (Dadin Kowa) road, which spans 1.8 kilometers, and the Darin Kowa to First Bank road, which measures 0.78 kilometers and connects to the dual carriageway.

Umar acknowledged the progress made by the contractor and urged them to continue their diligent work to complete the project on time.

He also mentioned that Governor Bago has promised to support contractors who deliver quality work, with potential opportunities for future projects.

He called on everyone to fully support Governor Bago’s administration to ensure its success. It is worth noting that several directors from the ministry were also in attendance during the inspection.
