Emir of Minna refutes report calling on Tinubu to probe past administrations

Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umaru Faruq Bahago, has refuted reports attributed to him calling on President Bola Tinubu to probe past leaders and administrations in the country.

This was contained in a statement signed on behalf of the Emir by Alhaji Garba Kuta, Secretary of Minna Emirate Council, made available to newsmen in Minna on Saturday.

The Emir was reacting to news reports circulating on social media attributed to one of the turban chief in the emirate, Malam Musa Maikudi (Achaza), the Hadimin Minna,

Musa was misquoted in news reports during a citizenry sensitisation event, calling on the president to intensify probe of past leaders and administrations in the country with a view to recovering looted funds.

The event was to sensitise citizens on Federal government intervention programmes at the states and local government levels orgiansied by office of Minister of Information and National Orientation in Minna.

Bahago said he was neutral concerning matters of politics in Niger state and the country, adding that as traditional ruler, he was a father to all and would not side with any social or political group.

He reaffirmed his and the emirate unwavering support to the administration of Tinubu and enjoined the president to remain focused in his drive to reposition the country’s economy.

According to him, our goal is to see that Nigeria progresses in all areas of human endeavour regardless of who or the political party in power.

He charged all district heads and turbaned chiefs in his domain to also remain neutral and refrain from commenting on issues on his behalf without seeking his prior approval and clearance.

The emir commended the ongoing war against banditry and terrorism in the state particularly in Minna emirate to safeguard communities whose major activities was farming.

He, however, commended Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger for developmental strides and the ongoing infrastructure development in the state.
