NUT, Niger State Wing Conderm use of hate words in School debate, Appeals for pardon.

By : Yahaya Zakka Minna.

The Nigerian Union of Teachers NUT, Niger state chapter has expresses  concern over the viral video featuring a school Pupil from Agaie local government Education Authority of Niger state, where the boy was seen in a school debate opposing mandatory voting in Nigeria.

In a Press statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Union, Comrade Adamu Mohammed Akayago and Comrade Labaran Garba, Assistant Principal Secretary General and made available to Nigeria daily post in Minna, said the Union extols the Child Skillful and intellectual ability in making his points through mental and emotional demonstration, however the over reactionary and emotional in-balance in his presentation were observed to be quite uncultured.

The statement, reads in parts that, “teachers core mandate is to develop pupils and students holistically, mentally, physically and to inculcate positive norms and values that is capable of transforming a child positively into becoming a reasonable citizen in the society”, the recent unfortunate incident of a school pupil making use of hate language during school debate is not deliberately aimed to disregard the age long good reputation of teachers and their Pupils.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers conderm in strong terms the negative use of words by the child and also express mutual concern for the poor coaching and counseling given to the child, before and during the debate which has eventually caused bad feeling by the Political leaders and other critical stakeholders in the educational sector.

According to the statement all members of the Union are henceforth directed to ensure proper supervision and guidance of pupils and students before and during academic activities with the aim of achieving the desired goals and objectives.

He further appeal to those who might be offended particularly political leaders, Niger state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education,SUBEB to pardon the key players that night have contributed in one way or another and assures, such will not happen again.
