Alternative dispute resolution better than litigation, it does not follows strict procedure- Gambo

The Niger Multidoor Court House has resolved 84 cases from January to date through Alternative Dispute Resolution (DRS) while 32 other pending cases are in the process of final settlement.
The Director of the Niger State Multidoor Court House, Hajiya Sa’adatu Abubakar Gambo stated this on Tuesday while speaking with journalists at a seminar organised for 20 Alternative Dispute Resolution officers of the Court.
She said the seminar was aimed at acquainting the Dispute Resolution officers with the knowledge of mediation in commercial disputes.
Speaking on the cases being handled by the court, Hajiya Sa’adatu Abubakar Gambo said, ” from January to date, we have resolved 84 cases of various disputes while we are attending to 32 pending cases. A lot is coming in, people are getting more aware of what we are doing and they are happy with the process “.
She explained that Alternative Dispute Resolution is better than litigation adding that it does not delay or follow strict procedures as practiced in conventional courts.
She emphasized the commitment of the Chief Judge of Niger state, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik towards enhancing the capacity of judicial staff through training and retraining.
She urged that staff of the court and the Dispute Resolution officers to utilise the knowledge they got at the seminar towards improving the services of the court to the people
