NIGER PTA CRISIS: COMMISSIONER DISSOLVES WARRING FACTIONS
… SETS UP COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT FRESH ELECTION.

The new Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Niger State, Dr Hadiza Asabe Mohammed has dissolved the warring factions of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) to allow for fresh election in the State.
The decision followed after efforts to create a dialogue and to reconcile the factions of the PTA proved abortive.
Speaking during an interface with the two factions the new Commissioner charged them to look into the future to foster unity and collaboration within the PTA.
It should be recalled that the PTA factiona have had disagreements and divisions for a long time that have hindered effective collaboration and decision-making.
She lamented that, the division has affected the overall functioning of the association and its ability to fulfill its mission of supporting the education of children in the state.
According to her “I understand that there have been disagreements and divisions amongst you which unfortunately have hindered your ability to work together. I advise you to embrace dialogue to overcome your differences so that you can rebuild a stronger and united PTA.”
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Wasa Jonathan had an extensive discussions and open dialogue to reconcile the two factions, but the two parties could not come to terms with reconciliation.
Following their unending disagreement, Ministry through the Permanent Secretary had no other options than to dissolve the factions.
He however constituted a 13- man committee to come with modalities of conducting a fresh election that is in line with the constitutional provisions of the PTA.
The committee was charged to submit its report and the modalities in the next two weeks from yesterday.
